NEW In 1961, it seems Nasa decided to test the adage ‘if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys’ and sure enough, America’s next astronaut was a chimp called Ham. Amazingly, he surpassed all expections, even looking good in a leather jacket! I’m very tempted to make a joke about their current experiment with primates in the White House, but I won’t.

NEW SERIES Distancing itself from the rash of talent shows spread across our TV screens, this show seems to be a real-life re-creation of 1980s classic drama Fame, based on the premise that making it big is only possible through a mixture of raw talent and sheer hard work. Whether there’ll be impromptu song and dance numbers in the canteen remains to be seen.

NEW SERIES Google this show’s star, Rev Bob Larson, and you find a great deal of controversy about his methods for dealing with demon possession, mostly regarding the amount of money he makes from his captive audiences. You can draw your own conclusions, but I suspect his use of scripture doesn’t often feature the verse about the love of money being the root of all evil…
