8.00, Waterloo Road, BBC2
NEW FACE The makers of Waterloo Road have obviously got a thing for brassy Corrie barmaids. First they enrolled Denise Welch, and now Eva Pope shows up. With her credentials, you know she’s not playing the new dinner lady. True to form, she barges in as Jack’s replacement, armed with a set of plans guaranteed to get everyone’s backs up.
8.00, Arrange Me a Marriage, BBC2
NEW SERIES Professional matchmaker Aneela Rahman uses the principles of arranged marriage, using the experience and advice of friends and family, to help singletons find love. It’s all much more sedate than TV shows like E4’s current Age of Love, which turns women into pack animals, or Beauty and the Geek, with its cardboard characters. Still, romantic viewers will find little appeal in Aneela’s methods.
9.00, Brucie’s Generation Game: Now and Then, UKTV Gold
NEW SERIES The Now and Then treatment worked a charm for Wogan and Jim’ll Fix It, and now Bruce Forsyth’s manic game show gets in on the act, with classic clips of families getting in a pickle over quirky tasks.Good game, good game!
